Painting and Decorating Can Make a World of Difference in Your Home
When my wife and I first took a tour of our house, I was not that impressed. I liked the location, and the yard was nice and big, but the inside seemed so drab and unappealing. I was just about to tell our real estate agent that we would take a pass when my wife said she wanted it. I asked her if she was sure and pointed out my problems with it, and she said after a little painting and decorating she would change my mind. I am sure glad that I let her have her way, because it looks incredible now.
My wife and I started out by making a trip to a local hardware store. My wife informed the sales person that she was looking for materials she could use for painting and decorating our house, and explained to the person what she needed. I really was not paying much attention at this point, because I thought I had just gotten into the worst financial obligation of my life, which, if any other person on the face of the planet had tried to talk me into, I would have flat-out declined. It was my wife who wanted it, however, so what can you do?
We went home and she asked me to start laying out drop cloths and mixing the paint with her. She told me that she had gotten about half of what she needed to complete her painting and decorating project and that the other half would have to be completed at a store like Homeworld or some other place that specialized in home decor. I still had no idea what she was doing, but she went to work while I started working on getting our furniture moved into the house. After about a week she had gotten everything painted the way she wanted to with my help, and was now ready to go shopping for decorations. I sat that one out.
She came back with several bags full of things and went to work. With just the paint, the house looked marginally better, but when she started decorating, it really began to take shape. Suddenly, this whole painting and decorating thing seemed like a very good idea and she looked like a genius. When she was done, it looked absolutely amazing, and I made a point of telling her so. I knew that it meant a lot to her when I said so, and needless to say, she was pretty exhausted.
Painting and decorating can make a world of difference when you’re trying to make a house into a home, and I saw my wife prove that point in person!
